Comics & Graphic Novels

Original or commissioned comics, from page layout to finished art. Sequential storytelling built to make the reader turn the page, not to make a single panel look good on its own.

How this work goes

A comic is not illustration lined up in a row. What makes a page work is the order the eye travels it: the size of each panel, the space between them, where the balloon lands and what stays outside the frame. That work starts before the first final line.

Here the whole project stays in one pair of hands: layout, line art, color and lettering. That avoids the most expensive seam in a comic: approved art that leaves no room for the balloon, or color that fights the reading order of the panels.

I work with independent authors putting together a first issue and with publishers that need finished pages at production pace. Either way, you approve stage by stage: nothing moves ahead of something you have not seen.

What's included

I cover every stage of production:

  1. Storyboard and page layout

The map of the page before the drawing: how many panels, how big each one is, where the eye enters and where it leaves. It is the cheapest stage to change and the one that decides whether the scene reads.

  2. Scene composition

Framing, angle and camera distance chosen by what the scene needs to say: a close shot for reaction, a wide one to establish, and the cut that saves a whole panel.

  3. Final line art

The definitive line, with weight varying by plane: heavier on the outline of what is close, finer in the background. It is what gives depth to a black and white page.

  4. Coloring

Palette locked per scene, not per panel, so the whole chapter holds together. Light and shadow at the service of reading: what matters gets contrast, the rest steps back.

  5. Lettering and layout

Balloons, captions and sound effects placed together with the art, not after it. The balloon is part of the composition. When it comes last, it almost always covers something that mattered.

One project, from the inside

O Vigilante

The full path of a project in this specialty, from brief to delivery.

A villain model sheet built straight out of an interview with the author: a 60/30/10 palette in black, white and red, and a deliberate call to leave the line open — the pencil stays on show.

How the project moves

A clear process with approvals at every step. You always know where your project stands.

  1. 01

    Initial conversation

A first conversation over WhatsApp to understand your story, what you want out of it, and to go through your references. This is where we dig into your idea before structuring anything — so that what comes out actually looks like you.

  2. 02

    Proposal & briefing

Within 48 hours I send a quote drawn up for what you specifically need. Every project is different, so this is where we agree together on how we will work — expectations and next steps, set out for your project rather than a template.

  3. 03

    Creation

The work happens four hands at a time. You see the sketches and approve each phase before we move on. The revision flow adapts to what your project needs, so you keep control of the result at every step of the way.

  4. 04

    Final delivery

At the end you get every file organised and in exactly the format you need. No headaches over technical settings: whether it goes straight to the printer, online, or to your animation team, it arrives clean and ready to use.
